supermassive 03 (prelude) produced 2019.01.26–02.24 dreamer-cum-Jest performs her composition "Reaver" at Lorenz Orb, Venice, in what she evaluates to be in her corporeal body's perceived time of 2017 May. it is just a dream, after all! of note is that this venue has been left abandoned since 2003. after the show, she experiences a euphoria so potent it briefly obfuscates her sense of time. the year is clarified to be 1997, as it has–of course–been. she is approached by a mysterious woman who enlightens her as to the existence of a far-upcoming special event on the distant floating sea-city of Bristol featuring live music and dance, during which an astronomical transit is projected to be observed. she wonders if she might be solicited to headline it. the dreamer opens their eyes; the illusion is broken. --- out of all of the songs on supermassive, this one took by far the longest to complete a first draft due to its maximalist philosophy. it was primarily constructed during the "pilot phase" in 2019 during which tracks took me a week on average to prepare; this one, however, took a month. it was originally track 2, hence most of the stems' "02" prefix. --------- COMMENTARY + HIGHLIGHTS --------- ◼ reaver_xeboix ver_01.mp3 [2021.05.14] this was the second ixjobxeb xeboix remix i made out of the supermassive material following the father's black hole remix from that january, and the third(?) overall. i think it's pretty good but i felt it didn't fit anywhere on the album like the fbh one. the other one is called "year of the ox" and can be found in the 05 folder; an early version of fbh remix called "blue-faced girl" (XEBOIX2.mp3) is located in the root unsorted directory. ◼ 02 76 loud.mp3 [2019.02.24] this was me desperately trying to make the song complete (this was 2 days before i finished the first version) by adding a midsection. this was ultimately cut and replaced by a different passage (02 series 3_06.mp3) ◼ Process No 3.mp3 [2018.09.01] particularly astute listeners may be able to identify this as a screwed remix of the notorious 151.mp3. that file should be somewhere in pink noise\unsorted. ◼ Rvr_5_Clipped.mp3 [2017.11.25] the original title of "Reaver" was "Ode to Steve Reich, Pt. 1", a reference to the real dream that inspired the song in which i performed a song with that title using animusic instruments at a massive spherical concert venue, suspended dozens of feet above the audience. ◼ 02 series 2_01.mp3 [2021.02.23] ◼ 02 03b.mp3 [2020.04.19] ◼ 02 21.mp3 [2019.01.31]
