the dreamer opens their eyes.  but it's Jest, in the Estate.  in a series of surreal visions, she observes from without the birth of a mutated version of herself.  the displacement of tendon and bone facilitates the growth of neoappendages.  a tail befitting the biology of a cold-blooded amniote sprouts from out of her coccyx.  she drifts back to sleep.
