"passthrough film" is a term i started using to describe a very particular genre of film that i am prone to having dreams about (there was a point when i was very active on letterboxd and would have dreams about new movies all the time).  the defining elements of a passthrough film are nomadism (continuously evolving setting) and the absence of any conflict or traditional rising/falling narrative structure.  i think the term itself also came from a dream, but i can't remember right now.  the best example i can think of was one called Innocent World, which was just 90 minutes of friends going out for a night in the city and trying all the food and stuff.  johhnmonowsky did in fact originate from a dream and its title is transcribed here verbatim.  i was convinced it was real (including the whole can only be watched in a dream part) and the most important thing ever.  it was 7 hours long.  this song was originally called "Tower".  my mom is actually featured on it (she plays the wailing bowed sounds around 1:52, 2:06 and 2:46 in the final cut)
